India reported more than 1,000 new COVID-19 infections on Monday, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The states of Kerala, Maharashtra, and Delhi are currently reporting the highest numbers of new cases.
Kerala recorded 335 fresh COVID-19 cases, raising the total active cases in the state to 430. Maharashtra reported 153 new infections on the same day. This rise indicates an increase in cases compared to previous weeks.
The national capital now has 104 active COVID-19 cases, up from 99 last week. A senior health official from Delhi confirmed these numbers and said, “While the situation remains under control, authorities are closely monitoring any potential surge.”
Bihar reported its first COVID-19 case of the current wave on Monday. A 31-year-old man from Patna tested positive for the virus. Patna Civil Surgeon Abinash Kumar Singh told PTI, “A man from Patna with no history of travelling outside the state recently has tested positive for Covid-19. The level of infection is very mild. The case is being monitored closely, and all necessary protocols are being followed.”
West Bengal recorded four new COVID-19 cases, increasing the number of active cases to 11. Most of these patients, many of whom have breathing issues, are receiving treatment in both government and private hospitals, mainly in Kolkata and its surrounding areas. An official said, “These patients are under observation. The number of patients who tested positive for the contagion was seven till Saturday. Four more cases were reported till Sunday evening.”
Some states and union territories, including Andaman and Nicobar, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu and Kashmir, currently have no active COVID-19 cases.
In recent weeks, many parts of India have seen an increase in COVID-19 infections. Health authorities continue to monitor the situation closely to manage the spread and protect public health.
