After the successful use of the S-400 air defence system in Operation Sindoor, India has officially asked Russia for more units of the system, top defence sources told India Today TV.
The S-400, which is already in use by the Indian military, played an important role during the recent conflict with Pakistan. It helped stop and destroy missiles and drones that were launched from across the border. Officials involved in the operation said the S-400 systems worked with great accuracy and proved highly effective in defending against air attacks.
Impressed by how well the S-400 systems performed, India has decided to boost its air defence by requesting more of these systems from Russia. Sources say that Russia is likely to agree to this request soon.
In India, the S-400 is also called the ‘Sudarshan Chakra’. It is one of the most advanced air defence systems in the world. The system can track enemy targets from as far as 600 km away and can shoot them down from a distance of up to 400 km.
About S-400
The S-400 Triumf is a mobile surface-to-air missile defence system developed by Russia. First introduced in 2007, it is considered one of the most advanced long-range air defence systems in the world and is even feared by NATO countries because of its powerful capabilities.
The S-400 can detect, track, and destroy a wide range of aerial threats, including enemy aircraft, drones, ballistic and cruise missiles, and even stealth jets. It can target threats from a long distance, providing a strong shield to protect important military bases and strategic locations. With its ability to defend large areas, the S-400 plays a key role in strengthening a country's air defence.
