Bademiya, a famous Mumbai restaurant known for its delicious kebabs, was shut down on September 13 by government officials. They found cockroaches and rats in the kitchen, which is not good for a place that serves food to people. The officials decided to check the restaurant because many people had complained that it wasn't clean.

What's more, the restaurant had been running two branches (one in Bandra and one in South Bombay) for a long time without the right permission. Even though they had been serving food for 76 years, they didn't have the proper license they needed to run a restaurant.

If you tried to order from Bademiya on food delivery apps like Swiggy and Zomato on September 14, you would have seen that the restaurant was closed and not taking any orders. When news reporters tried to call the restaurant branches, no one answered the phone.

Inspecting many restaurants in Mumbai.

A government official from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) said that they were inspecting many restaurants in Mumbai. Bademiya was one of them. During the inspection, they found out that Bademiya was making food in a central kitchen and sending it to its other branches without having the right licenses. They also found that the restaurant had some serious problems with cleanliness.

The owner of Bademiya said that they had all the licenses they needed, except for one from a group called FSSAI, which they were working on getting. They promised to work with the authorities and make sure they serve clean and safe food to their customers.

This incident reminds us of another restaurant in Mumbai called Papa Pancho da Dhaba. A few weeks ago, a customer found a dead rat in their food there. The police arrested the restaurant manager and cook, and the FDA temporarily closed down Papa Pancho da Dhaba, just like what happened to Bademiya.

Mumbai

In short, Bademiya, a famous restaurant in Mumbai known for its kebabs, was closed because of hygiene and licensing problems discovered during a government inspection. This situation raises concerns about the safety of food in Mumbai's restaurants and shows why it's important for restaurants to have the right licenses and keep things clean.
