In a new twist to the story of a woman who fled away with her would-be son-in-law just ten days before the marriage have now surrendered at the Aligarh police, nearly ten days after they mysteriously disappeared from Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh.

The woman, identified as Sapna, is the mother-in-law of Rahul, the man she ran away with. During questioning, Sapan made several shocking revelations, sharing the real reasons behind her decision to flee with her prospective son-in-law. The police are now looking deeper into the case, which has left both families and locals stunned.

Sapna surrendered at a police station today and explained why she decided to leave her family. She accused her husband of drinking and abusing her and claimed her daughter often fought with her as well. According to Sapna, these issues led her to make the difficult decision to run away.

“I will live with Rahul, no matter what,” Sapna stated firmly, adding that she only returned after the police became involved. “I will marry him and stay with him,” she insisted. Rahul Kumar, the man Sapna’s daughter was set to marry today, also gave himself up alongside her.

Sapna and Rahul, who belong to the Dadon police station area, went missing on April 6, leaving both families stunned. Earlier, Sapna’s husband Jitendra Kumar had revealed that she used to talk to Rahul for hours every day.

Sapna also rejected the claims from her family that she took large sums of money and jewelry when she left. “I only had a mobile phone and Rs 200 when I left,” she clarified. Sapna’s daughter, Shivani, accused her of stealing Rs 3.5 lakh in cash and jewellery worth over Rs 5 lakh before running away.

Rahul Kumar, who fled with Sapna, claimed she threatened to end her life if he didn’t meet her. “She said she’d die if I didn’t come to the Aligarh bus stop. So, I went. We travelled to Lucknow, then Muzaffarpur,” he said. Rahul added they returned after learning police were searching for them and also claimed Sapna was mistreated at home.

When asked if he would marry Sapna, Rahul first said, “There’s nothing like that,” then added, “Will do.” Sapna’s family has refused to take her back. “We just want the money and jewellery she took,” said her brother-in-law. Her brother demanded action, denying Sapna’s claim of abuse: “I lived with them. I never saw that.” Police have not commented on the matter yet.
