Three months after the heinous crime of RG Kar Medical College, the prime accused Sanjay Roy has claimed that he is innocent and is being framed by the government. The claim was made while he was out of Sealdah court on Monday.

Roy screamed, “I have been intimidated and framed. I told the judge that I was innocent, but I was taken away. The government is framing me and threatening me not to open my mouth... I am being framed to protect the real culprits.

The Sealdah court has framed charges against Roy under sections 64, 66, and 103 (1) of Bharatiya Nyay Sahita. The trial will begin on November 11 and will continue daily except on holidays.

A month ago, the central agency filed its interim chargesheet, naming Sanjay Roy as the prime accused. The charge sheet also mentioned two others,  former RG Kar Principal Sandip Ghosh and Tala police station OC Abhijit Monda for their involvement in tampering with evidence and allegedly conspiring in the case.

The central agency said that it has submitted an interim charge sheet, but the investigation is still ongoing. It has stated that both Sandip Ghosh and Abhijit Mondal should remain in judicial custody leading to an extension of their detention.

Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Kunal Ghosh commented, "Even the Kolkata police had identified Roy as the prime accused. A section of people had demanded a CBI probe, and now the CBI has named Roy as an accused. I hope justice will be served soon."

After the arrest of Sanjay Roy, he was also made to undergo a polygraph test. The suo-moto cognizance of the case was taken by the Supreme Court amid the massive protest by junior doctors across the nation.
Many senior doctors of the RG Kar Medical College also resigned in support of the junior doctor’s protest. Many junior doctors held a rally outside the CBI office in Kolkata, demanding speedy justice.
