First, two sages were beaten to death in Palghar in Maharashtra, then a monk was brutally murdered in Bulandshahr and now in Meerut, a Sadhu was beaten to death. The monk was mocked for his saffron colored muffler and then was killed on protest.

On Monday, Kanti Prasad who was the vice chairman of the Shiv temple committee in Abdulapur of Bhavnpur went to Ganganagar to collect electricity bill. It is alleged that while returning, Anas Qureshi alias Janaleva of the village near Global City made an alleged religious comment and mocked Kanti's saffron muffler.

Beaten on Road:

Kanti protested against the mockery of Anas, after which a debate ensued between the two. It is alleged that Anas beat up Kanti on the road and ran away. From there, Kanti somehow reached the village and went to Anas's house and complained about his actions.

Beaten again:

Kanti was beaten again at Anas's house when he came back from behind. It is alleged that once again, Anas along with his family once again beat up Kanti fiercely and ran away with the bike. When the family members of Kanti received information about his beating, they took them to the police station. His condition deteriorated here.

Died during treatment:

The family members rushed to the hospital with Kanti where he died while undergoing treatment at the medical college on Tuesday. On the complaint of Kanti Prasad, the police registered an FIR against Anas for making religious remarks, assaulting and threatening to kill him.

Arrested to the accused:

Several Hindu organizations reached the police station on the news of the death of the monk and started creating a havoc. The police arrested Anas as the case progressed, SO Sanjay Kumar said that Anas has been arrested and sent to jail, other accused are being searched. Seeing the rise in tension, the force was deployed in the village. Police say that an effort will also be made to compensate the deceased.
