Himachal Pradesh is facing severe disruption as heavy rains have resulted in flash floods and landslides across the state, causing damage to shops, buildings, roads, and residential areas. Officials, however, have confirmed that no loss of life has been reported so far. In Manali, strong currents of the Beas River washed away a multi-storey hotel along with four shops in the early hours of Tuesday.

Floodwaters also inundated the Alu Ground area, while the Manali-Leh highway was blocked at several points, disrupting travel. In Kullu, water from the Ghanvi Khud drain entered homes, adding to the misery of residents. Authorities have urged people to stay indoors and avoid venturing near rivers and low-lying areas.

Mandi district was also hit hard. Late Monday night, two buildings housing approximately 40 shops collapsed in the Balichowki area. Thankfully, there were no casualties as the buildings had been vacated earlier due to safety concerns. In addition, Kanvi in Kinnaur district experienced flash floods, prompting authorities to monitor the situation closely.

Due to the heavy rainfall, district administrations across Himachal Pradesh have ordered the closure of all educational institutions. Orders were issued in Mandi, Kangra, Chamba, Una, Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Solan, Banjar, and Kullu, ensuring that students remain safe. Shimla has been particularly affected, with rain continuing since Monday morning. Landslides, uprooted trees, and blocked roads forced the Shimla district administration to close all government and private schools on Tuesday.

Officials are keeping a close watch on rivers and landslide-prone areas and have advised residents to follow safety guidelines. Emergency services remain on high alert to respond quickly to any new incidents. Authorities have also warned that travel may remain hazardous for the next few days as the monsoon continues to impact the state.

Himachal Pradesh residents are urged to stay alert, avoid unnecessary travel, and follow local authority instructions while the state navigates the ongoing floods and landslides.
