After days of scorching heat, rain hit Delhi-NCR on Tuesday, providing much-needed relief to the city. Light showers were recorded in East Delhi’s Jafrabad area, while Noida and Ghaziabad experienced heavy rainfall. On Monday, the city remained hot with strong sunlight and winds, with the maximum temperature at 34.5°C and minimum at 25.7°C.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said a low-pressure area is forming over the Arabian Sea, and the weather in the region is expected to remain partly cloudy with a mix of sun and showers until October 3. The rain comes during Dussehra and Durga Puja celebrations, raising concerns that pandals may be affected.

Light rain, thunderstorms, and gusty winds have been forecast for Delhi and nearby areas, including Sonipat, Kharkhoda, Charkhi Dadri, Jhajjar, Rewari, Palwal, Mahendragarh, Bawal, Nuh, Aurangabad, and Hodal in Haryana, as well as Khatauli and Sakoti Tanda in Uttar Pradesh.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra is also facing heavy rain, prompting the IMD to issue alerts for several districts, including Mumbai, Thane, Raigad, and Palghar. Over 10 people have died, and more than 11,800 residents have been evacuated from affected areas.

The IMD warned that heavy rain and thunderstorms may continue until October 3, with strong winds reaching up to 40 km/h. Residents are advised to stay indoors, avoid travelling during heavy rain, and remain cautious of flooding and landslides, especially in low-lying and hilly regions.

Other parts of Maharashtra, including Marathwada and Vidarbha, may experience light to moderate rainfall, with isolated heavy showers. Farmers have been advised to harvest mature crops and secure stored grains. Authorities have urged residents to follow official updates and stay safe as the rains continue to affect large parts of northern and western India.
