Observing India’s 75th Independence Day, the Central government has launched the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ programme across the country, under which the tricolour will be hoisted on top of over 20 crore houses across the country and the campaign is expected to be launched by mid-July.
The Indian flag will be hoisted atop more than 20 crore houses across the country for three days, August 13 to 15, next month under the central government's plan, according to an official statement.
On Sunday, Home minister Amit Shah addressed the chief ministers, LGs and administrators of all states/union territories via video-conferencing, seeking their active engagement to make it a success.
Shah said,”the ‘first-of-its-kind’ program will help reinforce the feeling of patriotism among citizens and also familiarise the country’s youths and children with the martyrdom attained by various brave hearts during the freedom struggle.”
To fulfil the upcoming demand of flags, the government has already reached out to manufacturers and e-commerce sites to boost its availability. Meetings with large e-commerce platforms such as Amazon and Flipkart are being held for the same and flags will also be made available at post offices.
Home Minister Amit Shah has urged state administrations to publicise the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ initiative in all their advertisements and has requested the electronic media to further propagate the initiative.
To kick off the celebrations of Independence Day 2022, from July 22, the national flag will appear on the homepage of all state government websites and citizens will be encouraged to display the tricolour on their Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and other social media accounts.
The Central government plans on celebrating August 11-17 as “Independence Week” in the country, during which, more than 20 crore households are expected to unfurl the national tricolour between the same period.
