Sheikh Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, secretary general of the Muslim World League, on Tuesday, lauded India's unity and the Muslims living there for their feeling of national pride. During a ceremony at the India-Islamic Cultural Centre in New Delhi, he stated, "They are proud that they are Indian citizens and they are proud of their Constitution."

Dr. Al-Issa also praised India for what it has done for humanity. "Indian wisdom has received a lot of attention. We are aware that coexisting peacefully is one of our shared goals. We are aware that the Indian subcontinent, with all of its diversity, serves as an excellent example of cohabitation, both in words and in practice, and we value all the efforts made in this direction', he added.

Following Dr. Al-Issa's praise, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval stressed the Secretary General's strong message that living in peace and harmony is imperative to defend humanity. Doval stated, "Excellency your deep understanding of Islam, the religions of the world, and unceasing efforts towards interfaith harmony, courage to persistently lead on the path of reforms has not only contributed to a better understanding of Islam and its contribution to humanity but has also prevented extremist and radical ideologies from afflicting the young minds."

Doval also said, "India has successfully managed to give space to all its citizens irrespective of their religious, cultural, and ethnic identities. Islam occupies a significant position as India is the home of the second-largest Muslim population in the world. The Indian Muslim population is almost the same as the combined population of 33+ member countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.

Dr. Al-Issa's current six-day tour to India, which started on Monday, is aimed at promoting interfaith harmony and establishing ties between the political and religious authorities of India and the most powerful Islamic organization. Saudi Arabia founded and supports the Muslim World League, also known as Rabitat al-Alam al-Islami, an international Islamic NGO. As a result, the trip is being viewed as "peace diplomacy".
