In a school in Maharashtra, some girl students from classes 5 to 10 were reportedly forced by teachers to remove their clothes to check if they were on their period. This happened after blood stains were found in the school bathroom, which made many parents very angry, police said.

The incident happened on Tuesday. The principal called many girls to the school hall and showed them photos of the blood stains found on the bathroom floor. These photos were taken by the cleaning staff. The principal then told the girls to make two groups: one for those who were on their period and one for those who were not. A female peon was asked to check some girls (aged 10 to 12) who said they were not on their period.

The peon allegedly touched their undergarments while checking them. She found one girl who was actually using a sanitary pad but had said she wasn’t on her period. After this, the principal scolded and insulted the girl in front of other students and staff. When parents found out what happened, they got very angry and gathered outside the school to protest. On Wednesday, they filed a complaint against the school.

A case has been filed under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act against six people, the principal, the peon, two teachers, and two trustees. The principal and the peon have been arrested, and police are investigating the others. A senior Maharashtra Police officer confirmed that the investigation is ongoing.
