India bids a heartfelt farewell to the distinguished freedom fighter, Makar Charan Das, who passed away at the age of 99 in a Cuttack hospital, as reported by family members. 

Due to an age-related illness, Das was receiving treatment at the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack. Tragically, he succumbed to his illness at 6:40 am on Tuesday.

Makar Charan Das, a proud son of Kendrapara district, made a significant contribution to India's independence struggle against British colonial rule, which led to his imprisonment. 

Odisha's Governor Ganeshi Lal, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Cooperation Minister Atanu S Nayak, and a host of others, poured in their heartfelt condolences for the demise of this stalwart and expressed their sympathies to his grieving family. 

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik paid a touching tribute to Das, stating that his simplicity and dedication to the freedom struggle will forever be etched in our memories. Honoring his contributions, he announced that the cremation of this esteemed freedom fighter will be carried out with full state honors.
