The first budget session of the Delhi government, led by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, will begin today, March 24. The session will last for five days and will start at 11 AM with a traditional kheer ceremony. During this session, the government will present its budget for the year, known as the ‘Viksit Delhi’ Budget, tomorrow, March 25. The budget is expected to focus on improving infrastructure, cleaning the Yamuna River, and reducing air pollution in the city.

The session will also include discussions on various important issues related to the development and welfare of Delhi.The first day of the Budget Session is expected to include the presentation of a Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report on the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) for 2024.

This Budget Session is important as it marks a major achievement for the BJP government, which returned to power in Delhi after 27 years. The party won the recent 2025 Delhi Legislative Assembly election and formed the government. This will be the second session of the new government, with the first session taking place between February 24 and March 3.

On Saturday, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta stated that the ‘Viksit Delhi Budget’ for the 2025-26 financial year will focus on key areas such as women's economic empowerment, better education and healthcare services, improved infrastructure, pollution control, and waterlogging issues.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta stated that the Delhi government took feedback from various sections of society, including professionals while preparing the budget. She mentioned that they received 3,303 suggestions via email and 6,982 suggestions through WhatsApp from stakeholders.

The ‘Viksit Delhi Budget will focus on fulfilling the basic needs of the public and will include provisions for employment generation. CM Gupta also emphasized that the budget will align with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a ‘Viksit Delhi’ and aim to bring overall development to the city.
