Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has declared a major financial relief package for those affected by the severe floods and rains caused by Cyclone Fengal. The affected districts include Villupuram, Cuddalore, Krishnagiri, Tiruvannamalai, Kallakurichi, and Dharmapuri.

Stalin has also announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakh for the families of those who lost their lives due to the cyclone or floods. Furthermore, Rs 10,000 will be given to those whose huts were damaged, while Rs 2,000 will be provided to ration card holders from families severely affected by the heavy rains in Villupuram, Cuddalore, and Kallakurichi districts.

The state government has also declared financial support for farmers and livestock owners affected by the calamity. Farmers will receive Rs 17,000 per hectare for standing crops, including paddy, damaged by 33 percent or more.Those growing perennial crops and trees will get Rs 22,500 per hectare, while farmers cultivating rain-fed crops will be compensated with Rs 8,500 per hectare for damages of 33 percent and above.

For livestock, the compensation includes Rs 37,500 for the loss of cattle, Rs 4,000 for sheep or goats, and Rs 100 for chickens. Acknowledging the need to rebuild lives, special camps will be organized to help residents replace lost documents and identification proofs. To ensure students can continue their education, new textbooks and notebooks will be distributed to those affected.

Chief Minister Stalin has ordered the district collectors of Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, and Tiruvannamalai to submit comprehensive reports on the most affected areas within their districts to accelerate the implementation of further relief measures.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also acknowledged the issue and called Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin to discuss the situation regarding the floods in the state. The Prime Minister assured full support to help the state recover from this calamity.
