cloudburst struck Uttarakhand’s Rudraprayag and Chamoli districts, causing severe damage and putting several families in danger. In Dewal’s Mopata area, Tara Singh and his wife went missing, while Vikram Singh and his wife were injured. Their cowshed collapsed during the incident, burying nearly 15–20 animals.

The impact of the cloudburst has been widespread. In the Rudraprayag district, six people are reported missing. The water levels of the Alaknanda and Mandakini rivers, which meet at a confluence, are continuously rising, adding to the risk of flooding. In the Kedarnath valley, Lawara village saw a bridge on the motor road swept away by strong currents.

The situation in Chengada has also become critical, with river water entering residential areas. Authorities have evacuated houses in affected regions to keep people safe. Even the Hanuman temple in Rudraprayag has been submerged due to rising waters.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed grief over the incident on X, stating, “In Rudraprayag district’s Basukedar tehsil under Badeth Dungar Tok and Chamoli district’s Dewal area, due to a cloudburst and debris flow, sad news has been received of some families being trapped.”

Speaking to Aaj Tak, Rudraprayag District Magistrate Prateek Jain said heavy rainfall in Basukedar caused four houses to be washed away. Thankfully, no one is missing there, as all residents were safely evacuated. He added that authorities are closely monitoring the situation.

The heavy rains have also affected other parts of Uttarakhand. In Haldwani, the Haldwani–Bhimtal road was blocked after debris fell from a hillside near Rani Bagh bridge, completely stopping traffic in the area. Due to the ongoing severe weather, the state government has ordered schools in Rudraprayag, Bageshwar, Chamoli, Haridwar, and Pithoragarh districts to remain closed today to ensure the safety of students.

Authorities continue to monitor rivers, rainfall, and landslide-prone areas closely, while rescue and evacuation operations are underway to protect residents from further harm. The situation remains critical in many parts of the state, and officials are urging people to stay alert and follow safety instructions.
