Cardiff University scientists in Wales have come up with a cool idea; they made beer using stuff from killer bees to get you buzzed.

In a groundbreaking collaboration between Cardiff University microbiologists and the University of Namibia, a unique craft beer called Killer Bee Beer has been created using brewer’s yeast extracted from Africanised honey bees, commonly known as killer bees.

Brewing Innovation: Crafting Killer bees with Africanised Yeast

The project, which originated from a partnership focusing on sustainable environmental development, involved the extraction of Saccharomyces cerevisiae, or brewer’s yeast, from deceased killer bees in Namibia. This yeast, essential for the fermentation process in beer production, was then combined with yeast from Welsh honey bees to craft the distinct flavor profile of Killer Bee Beer.
