In a major twist to the bomb scare near Ambanis' residence (Antilla), Thane DCP on Friday, revealed that the owner whose car was found abandoned near Antilla, was found dead at Kalwa creek. The owner - identified as Mansukh Hiran - died by suicide (like every death in Maharashtra these days) by jumping into Kalwa creek, claim police. An Accidental Death Report (ADR) has been registered in the Mumbra police station.

He cannot die by suicide, said members of Mansukh Hiren's family reacting to unconfirmed reports earlier that he could have taken his own life. Kin also said they knew that Mansukh was in Virar on Thursday night.

Speaking to the media on Friday, Mansukh Hiren's wife said, "When he left home last night, he was called by policeman Tawde to meet at Ghodbunder."

The wife went on to add, "Probe must reach its end; he would not commit suicide. The police used to call him every day from morning to night he was made to sit."

Neighbours said Mansukh Hiren used to teach children in his building how to swim, which would mean that the possibility of him drowning is highly unlikely.

What happened outside Antilia:

On February 25, Mumbai Police was alerted about a Scorpio abandoned near Reliance Industries owner Mukesh Ambani's residence Antilia. Upon further inspection, officials recovered unassembled gelatin sticks (explosives used in quarries) and a threatening letter addressed to the Ambani family.

A primary investigation from the CCTV revealed that the car had been parked near the residence since 1 AM, intervening night on between Wednesday-Thursday. A purported threat letter was also found in the car. After the incident, security for the Ambanis' is said to be increased with the deployment of around 58 CRPF commandos.

Investigators were able to track the registered owner of the Scorpio vehicle, one Mansukh Hiren.

In his statement to the Mumbai Police, Mansukh Hiren had claimed that his car had not been in use for over a year and that he recently drove the vehicle because he wanted to sell it.
