The deception began when an email was sent to the Delhi International Airport office on June 4th stating that an explosive device was onboard an Air Canada flight set to leave shortly. But later on, it was found out that the threat was just an empty threat.

The plane, which accommodated 301 passengers and 16 crew members, was evacuated and took a detour to an isolation bay due to the threat.

Law enforcement agencies searched for strange and unusual things but did not find any of them. This was followed by the cancellation of the flight. In conducting the investigation, it was also found that the email address used in sending the threat message was only created a few hours before it was used.

After the investigation was conducted, the source of the email was finally found to originate from Meerut City in the state of Uttar Pradesh, and rightly, the child was apprehended.

During questioning, the child disclosed that they got the idea to send the hoax email after hearing about a similar incident involving a bomb threat at Mumbai airport from media reports.
