Security forces in Maharashtra’s Raigad district were put on high alert on Sunday after a suspicious boat was seen floating close to the Revdanda coast.

According to police officials, security personnel noticed the boat about two nautical miles from the Korlai coastline near Revdanda. The vessel reportedly had markings that suggested it might belong to another country, and it is believed to have drifted into Indian waters.

As a precaution, several teams, including the Raigad Police, Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS), Quick Response Team (QRT), Navy, and Coast Guard, were sent to the area.

Raigad Superintendent of Police Anchal Dalal and other senior officers personally visited the site to assess the situation.

Heavy rainfall and strong winds made it difficult for the teams to reach the boat. “Dalal herself attempted to approach the boat using a barge but had to return due to adverse weather,” an official said.

A large number of police officers were deployed in and around the area, and overall security in the district was increased to ensure safety, officials confirmed.

Authorities are continuing to monitor the situation closely.
