As promised, Bhagwant Mann paid a visit to the Agniveer's family at Kotli Kalan hamlet in the Mansa district, gave them a cheque for one crore in compensation, and pledged to provide "all possible support."

He added that the state would compensate Singh's family with Rs 1 crore in order to acknowledge the soldier's sacrifice. "Either ensure their proper deployment or send them home. Courageous soldiers should never resort to suicide," stated Mr. Mann.

Amritpal Singh would receive the designation of a martyr

Amritpal Singh would receive the designation of a martyr from the state, according to the chief minister, in honour of his enormous service to the country. Mann paid homage to the 19-year-old martyred soldier who gave his life in defence of the country. He asserted that the government fully supported the family at this difficult moment. A statue honouring the martyr will also be installed in the village, the chief minister announced. Mann claimed that Punjabis have always motivated fellow Indians to surrender their life in defence of the nation.

The army had stated that Agniveer Amritpal Singh committed suicide, and that military honours were not offered at his funeral since deaths caused by self-inflicted wounds are not accorded such honours.

According to Mr. Mann, a brave soldier who accepts a mission with the intent to give his life in defence of his country cannot commit suicide.

"It is more than an insult saying that he died by suicide. He was taking care of his entire family," according to Mr. Mann, who also noted that "a person who chooses the Army does not die by suicide."

The Chief Minister said that the army's discriminatory action against Amritpal Singh will negatively affect the morale of the military troops. "Amritpal's parents had sent their son to selflessly serve the nation, and it is truly unfortunate that his sacrifice, in the line of duty, hasn't been recognised as that of a martyr, setting a concerning precedent,” Mann stated.

The Chief Minister referred to it as an insult to a martyr soldier that the body of a fallen soldier was brought in a private ambulance for the first time. According to Mann, the defence sector receives 60% of the nation's budget; nonetheless, it is regrettable that the army "has not even provided an ambulance to carry the body of martyr Amritpal Singh."

Mr. Mann, who vehemently opposed the Agniveer plan, argued that the Central government should reconsider it since it was an insult to the brave soldiers' contributions.

According to him, the jobs of army recruits who used the Agniveer plan should be regularised.

He criticised the Central government for treating the soldier in a "step-motherly" manner and criticised it for having a "apathetic" attitude towards the brave son of the nation.
