Indian astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla, who recently returned to Earth from the International Space Station (ISS), is not coming back to India right away. He will stay in the United States for a few more days to undergo medical checks. A team of doctors will closely monitor his health during this time. His return to India and post-space recovery are now the main focus.

Shubhanshu is currently doing well and looked fit and happy after landing. Experts believe he may face fewer health problems than others because he stayed in space for a shorter time. However, the exact date of his return to India is not confirmed yet.

Sunita Williams still recovering

Indian-origin astronaut Sunita Williams, who also returned from space on March 19, has not yet fully recovered. It has been over four months, but she is still facing issues like body pain, tiredness, and trouble with balance. She remains under medical care. This shows how hard it can be to adjust to life on Earth after staying in space.

Medical tests and isolation

As soon as Shubhanshu returned, doctors started examining his health. They will check many things like

  • Mental health
  • Bone strength and muscles
  • Heart rate and vision
  • Immunity levels
  • Brain scans and nerve functions

After the first check-up, he will be kept in isolation for seven days, from July 22 to 23, as per NASA’s rules. During this time, he will continue to get health check-ups. He will also start doing light activities like yoga and meditation to help his body recover.

When will he return to India?

If the doctors say he is healthy after isolation, he might return to India on a special flight by around July 25. But this date is not final yet. Also, details about the experiments Shubhanshu did in space may be shared later, depending on NASA’s schedule.
