In the Tangmarg region of the Baramulla district in north Kashmir, a chief constable of the Jammu and Kashmir authorities was shot and killed by terrorists on Tuesday night, according to authorities. In the last three days, there have been three targeted attacks in Kashmir; the second one claimed the life of a police officer.

Police named Ghulam Mohd Dar, the chief constable, as the victim. The incident happened in the Tangmarg region's Wailoo village. After being brought to Tangmarg's sub-district hospital, medical professionals pronounced him dead.

"Terrorists opened fire on HC Gh Mohd Dar, a JKP employee who lives in Wailoo Kralpora in Baramulla. The wounded police officer passed away from his wounds. A perimeter has been established. The J&K Police reported a search operation in a post on X, the old Twitter platform.

Following the terrorists' two consecutive targeted strikes, security has been increased.

On Monday, militants shot and killed Uttar Pradeshi migrant worker Mukesh Kumar in the south Kashmiri district of Pulwama. Kumar was employed in a district apple orchard.

While a police inspector was playing cricket in Srinagar on Sunday, a suspected terrorist from The Resistance Front (RTF), a branch of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), shot him three times. Masroor Ahmad Wani, the police officer, is recuperating at a metropolitan hospital after surviving the attack. Near his residence, Wani, who had been shot three times, was also attacked.

Mehbooba Mufti, a former chief minister, expressed sorrow on the passing. "We have witnessed a regrettable increase in targeted killings in the last few days. I denounce all of these despicable deeds. She posted on X, "My sincere condolences to the family of Ghulam Mohd Dar, who was shot in Tangmarg today."

Altaf Thakur, a BJP state spokesman, condemned the new assault. "It is not bravery to approach an unarmed police officer and open fire like cowards." He stated in a statement, "The fight to eradicate all terrorists will continue, and the day is not far off when the last nail is driven into the coffin of terrorism in J&K.

National Conference spokesperson Tanvir Sadiq also condemned the latest killing. “Our hearts ache as we ask, when will this bloodshed come to an end?” he said.
