An army dog was killed by a bullet during an encounter in the Akhnoor sector of the Jammu and Kashmir region. The dog was injured while drawing enemy fire as troops approached the terrorists, according to the Indian Army.

The Indian Army's White Knight Corps praised the bravery of the army dog, saying, "We honor the great sacrifice of our true hero valiant Indian Army dog, Phantom."

According to the information, Phantom is a four-year-old male Belgian Malinois—a breed popular among special forces around the world. He was born on May 25, 2020, and officially joined the force as anassault dogon August 12, 2022, after receiving his training at the RVC Centre in Meerut.

Three terrorists are suspected to have been involved in a recent gunfight with security forces. One of the terrorists, who was killed, was wearing clothes resembling army uniforms. Officials believe he was linked to the Jaish-e-Mohammad group.

This incident occurred amid eight terror attacks in Jammu and Kashmir over the past two weeks, which have led to more than a dozen deaths.

On October 24, a convoy carrying Rashtriya Rifles personnel and civilian porters was attacked by terrorists while heading to the Nagin post near Gulmarg. The ambush resulted in the deaths of two soldiers and two civilian porters.

A similar incident took place on October 20 where seven people were killed by terrorists at a construction site in Sonamarg of Ganderbal district. The victims include a doctor and six construction workers.
