Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced on Tuesday that the security forces have killed all three terrorists involved in the deadly Pahalgam attack. These terrorists, who belonged to the terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba, were eliminated during a joint operation called Operation Mahadev carried out by the Army, CRPF, and Jammu and Kashmir Police.
Speaking in Parliament during a discussion on Operation Sindoor, Amit Shah said the terrorists were responsible for the brutal killing of innocent civilians in the Baisaran Valley near Pahalgam on April 22. According to Shah, the attackers asked people about their religion before killing them in front of their families, a horrifying and cold-blooded act that shocked the entire country.

The three terrorists were identified as top Lashkar commander Suleiman Shah, an Afghan, and Jibran. Shah said they were identified by those who had previously provided them shelter. Last month, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) had arrested two local men, Parvaiz Ahmad Jothar and Bashir Ahmad, for helping the terrorists by giving them food and shelter.
Once the bodies of the terrorists were brought to Srinagar, the detained locals confirmed their identities. Shah highlighted how intelligence and cooperation between agencies helped track down the terrorists, and added that security forces had been strictly instructed not to let any of them escape the country.
While sharing this major development, Shah also commented on the opposition. He said he had expected that everyone would be happy with this news, but he didn’t see any positive reaction from them. The operation marks a major success in India’s fight against terrorism.
