At Chickpet's market in Bengaluru, YouTuber Pedro Mota was recording a selfie video when he was targeted by a local trader, Navab Hayath Sharif, who bullied and grabbed his hand. The incident was filmed and quickly went viral on social media platforms, drawing widespread attention.
In the viral video, the Dutch YouTuber can be heard saying, “Namaste, sir…”, while the trader grabbed his hand & started shouting, “Ye kya hai…?”
“Please let me go sir,” the YouTuber says in reply
The Dutch traveler was taken aback by the sudden ‘attack’ on him but somehow managed to escape from the spot minutes later. He later filed a complaint with city police and claimed the attacker wanted to break his finger.
According to Bengaluru Police, action has been taken against Navab Hayath Sharif. “Pertaining to this, action has been taken and the concerned person rounded up. Strict action will be taken against him. No such misbehaviour with foreign tourists will be tolerated.” Bengaluru City Police tweeted.
Earlier this year, a disturbing incident occurred during Holi in Delhi, where a Japanese vlogger was allegedly harassed on the streets. A viral video on Twitter showed the 22-year-old vlogger being egged, slapped, and subjected to harassment by a group of boys.
In a separate incident in April, a 25-year-old man was arrested by Jodhpur Police for flashing at a South Korean tourist. The victim, a 28-year-old vlogger, had recorded the incident and shared it on her vlog, leading to police intervention.
