A five-year-old boy named Aryan is stuck in a 150-foot-deep borewell in Kalikhad village, Dausa, Rajasthan. He fell into the borewell on December 9 while playing on a farm. Rescue teams started working to save him on Monday around 4 PM and are continuing their efforts nonstop.

Rescue teams are using advanced machines, like an XCMG 180 piling rig, to dig a tunnel next to the borewell where Aryan is trapped. They are also using earthmovers, tractors, and ropes to help with the rescue. Oxygen is being given to Aryan through a pipe to keep him safe. So far, the tunnel is 70 feet deep, and rescuers are working quickly as the weather gets colder, with temperatures falling to 8 degrees Celsius.

Rescuers first tried the umbrella technique, which was also used in a tunnel rescue in Uttarkashi in November 2023, but it did not work to save Aryan. Now, teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), and Civil Defence are all working together at the site to rescue him.

Minister calls for law on borewell safety

Rajasthan minister and BJP leader Kirodi Lal Meena went to the rescue site. A camera is being used to check Aryan's condition. The minister said there should be stricter laws to stop such accidents from happening. "These incidents happen across the country. There is direction from the government but no law. A law should be made regarding covering borewells," he said.

In September, a similar incident occurred in Dausa, where a two-year-old girl was rescued from a 35-foot borewell after 18 hours of effort by NDRF and SDRF teams. Officials hope to repeat such success in rescuing Aryan soon.
