Two NEET aspirants from Telangana died by suicide, just a day after appearing for the medical entrance exam held on May 4. The students, Janga Pooja and Rayi Manoj Kumar, ended their lives over the fear of not performing well in the exam.

Janga Pooja was from Jagtial district. She had first appeared for the NEET exam in 2023 but did not get the expected results. To prepare better, she joined a coaching centre and took the exam again this year. After coming home on May 4, she checked her answers and feared that her performance was again not good enough. This fear took over her mind, and sadly, she died by suicide.

Rayi Manoj Kumar, a student from Adilabad district and the son of a teacher, also died by suicide. He had taken coaching in Hyderabad and returned home on Monday after the exam. He was reportedly upset about not doing well and hanged himself.

NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) is a national-level exam conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for admission into undergraduate medical and dental courses. This year, more than 22 lakh students had registered for the exam.
