In Uttarakhand’s Rudraprayag district, a bus carrying 20 people fell into the Alaknanda River, leaving at least two people dead and 10 others missing. Rescue operations are underway, and eight people have been saved so far.

The bus was heading uphill towards Badrinath, a famous pilgrimage site, when the driver reportedly lost control. The vehicle then fell into the fast-flowing Alaknanda River.

As soon as the incident was reported, teams from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and local police rushed to the spot. Some local residents also joined in to help with the rescue work.

Rescue teams have been working hard to save those trapped or injured. Many passengers had jumped off the bus before it fell, which helped save their lives. Several injured people have already been taken to nearby hospitals for treatment.

Senior officers from the police, disaster response teams, and local administration are at the site and are closely watching the rescue work.

The administration has asked people not to share false or unconfirmed information about the incident.

Photos and videos from the scene show people forming a human chain to help bring up the injured from the riverbank. The area is steep and rocky, making rescue work more difficult.
