More than 19 people were killed and 10 others injured in a terrifying road accident near Khanapur Gate in Chevella mandal on Monday morning. The accident happened when a speeding truck driving on the wrong side crashed head-on into a Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) bus carrying around 70 passengers, leaving the scene in complete devastation.
The accident, which took place under the Cyberabad Commissionerate limits, was so severe that several passengers died on the spot. The mangled remains of the vehicles showed the sheer force of the collision. Eyewitnesses recalled chaotic scenes as locals and police rushed to help pull survivors from the wreckage.

Rescue efforts
Emergency teams, with the help of locals, rescued trapped passengers and shifted the injured to hospitals in Chevella and Hyderabad. Authorities confirmed that several of them remain in critical condition. Traffic movement was halted for hours as rescue operations continued.
Police said, “A road accident occurred between a TGSRTC bus and a truck near Khanapur Gate under Chevella police station limits in Rangareddy district. Several passengers are injured, and more details will be known later.”
CM Revanth Reddy orders immediate action
Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy expressed deep grief over the loss of lives and directed officials to carry out immediate and comprehensive relief measures. According to the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), he instructed the Chief Secretary and DGP to evacuate all injured passengers to Hyderabad for better medical care.
He also asked ministers and senior officials to reach the accident site and personally monitor the situation. Sources confirmed that state ministers and top police officials were dispatched to oversee rescue and relief operations on the ground.
BRS Chief K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) expressed deep shock and sorrow over the tragedy. “I am deeply saddened by the tragic accident near Mirjaguda in Chevella mandal, where 17 people lost their lives after an RTC bus collided with a tipper. My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families,” he said in a statement.
KCR urged the government to extend financial aid to the families of the deceased and ensure the best medical treatment for those injured. Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar expressed sorrow and directed officials to provide all necessary support to the victims’ families. He also ordered an inquiry into the cause of the accident.
Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan called the incident “deeply shocking” and urged the government to ensure the best medical services for the injured. Meanwhile, Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar expressed his condolences on X, calling it a “tragic accident” and assured that the Central Government would extend all necessary assistance.
