Raising awareness about alcohol consumption, Dr. Cyriac Abby Philips, also known as "The Liver Doc," shared a striking comparison of two livers on his social media post: one from a person who regularly consumes alcohol and the other from a non-drinker. This powerful post highlighted the effects of alcohol on the liver and has sparked important conversations about the often-overlooked health risks associated with alcohol consumption.
The post shared by Dr. Philips reads, “Hello. Just wanted to show the inside of the liver of a 32-year-old, ‘weekends only’ alcohol drinking man, and the healthy donor liver of his wife, that he received, that will help him survive to see their little daughter grow up.” The picture shared by Dr Phillips shows two livers. The non-drinker's liver is pink and healthy, while the drinker's liver is dark and spotted.

How social media reacted to the post
The social media got flooded with comments as soon as the post was shared with people expressing a variety of opinions. One of the users wrote, “Looking at the organ, it seems he was lying with her family & doctors, he seems completely alcoholic for the entire week.” The doctor replied, “You won't understand. Keep feeding your confirmation biases. Sometimes experience is a great teacher.”
The other comment reads, “Alcohol is a poison. Your liver has to work extra hard to process it, and when you drink too much if it’s just on weekends-you overload it. Over time, this can lead to fatty liver, scarring, cirrhosis, and eventually liver failure. And by the time you notice the symptoms, it's already too late. This man didn’t wake up one day with a damaged liver. He spent years slowly harming it, one drink at a time, while probably convincing himself, ‘It’s not that bad.”
A third commenter wrote, "This photo should be on every alcohol bottle." A fourth said, "I'm a bi-monthly drinker, and now I'm scared."
The Liver Doc is active on social media, using it to expose health-related myths. Recently, he made headlines for calling out actor Samantha Ruth Prabhu, football star Cristiano Ronaldo, billionaire Nikhil Kamath, and cricketer-turned-politician Navjot Singh Sidhu for their statements on health-related issues.
