In a time when the opposition alleges the government of bein 'anti-farmer', Prime Minister Narendra Modi released the next instalment of PM-Kisan, the direct cash-transfer scheme for farmers, worth Rs18,000 crore into bank accounts of 9 crore farmers.

"Some people are spreading myth and lies that land will be taken away if farmers enter into contract farming," PM Modi said, alluding to the opposition's attack that farmers won't benefit from the three new farm laws.

Under the PM-KISAN scheme, a financial benefit of Rs 6,000 per year is provided to small and marginal farmers, payable in three equal instalments of Rs 2,000 each. The fund is transferred directly to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries.

Speaking to a farmer from Odisha, PM Modi said, "I urge you to tell farmers about the Kisan Credit Card and its various benefits, which include the availability of loans at low-interest rates."

Interacting with the PM, the Odisha farmer said, "I received my Kisan Credit Card in 2019. I took an amount of ₹27,000 on loan from the bank on a mere 4% interest as compared to 20% from intermediaries."

The far sightedness of govt is comnendable considering how one of the first scheme by them was 'Jan Dhan Yojana' which provided most of the indians with bank accounts be it urban or rural households.

Later these bank accounts were enrolled with other schemes according to the field of the citizen.

And now, schemes like PM Kisan Yojana benefit farmers directly without any interference by a third party and even the farms don't have to go anymore. Plus it reduces the risk of scam by officials like in previous times.

Although the opposition still objected the 'free money' being given out to farmers, it is really difficult to not appreciate such step and no wonder why BJP is using this as tool to showcase how they are 'pro-farmers' just like their laws.
