Since the release of the film “Jailer” it has been breaking box office records one after another. It has been having a dream run at the box office since its release on August 10 and is also setting new benchmarks for the Indian film industry. According to a report on Sacnik.com, the film has collected more than Rs328 crore net in India in 22 days and is marching towards grossing Rs650 crore worldwide.
The film recently surpassed the lifetime collection of Kamal Haasan’s “Vikram” in Tamil Nadu. The state’s highest-grossing movie before “Baahubali,” starring Prabhas, was directed by SS Rajamouli. The film was dethroned by “Vikram,” while “Ponniyin Selvan: Part 1” by Mani Ratnam took first place. Now, ‘Jailer’ has taken the second spot.
Rajinikanth gets a Rs 100 crore cheque?
After the marvellous success of the film, Sun Pictures producer Kalanithi Maran met Rajinikanth and gave him a cheque from the profit share. The actor, apart from the fees was also in a profit share agreement with the producers. The official account of Sun Pictures shared the priceless moment on X and wrote: “Mr Kalanithi Maran met superstar Rajinikanth and handed over a cheque, celebrating the historic success of Jailer.”
Soon after, on Thursday, Manobala Vijayabalan, a cinema trade analyst, said on X that Rajinikanth had overtaken Salman Khan as the highest-paid actor in India as a result of the success of Jailer. Sharing the photo shared by Sun Picture, Manobala wrote, “Info coming in that, the envelope handed over by Kalanithi Maran to superstar Rajinikanth contains a single cheque amounting Rs 100 crore from City Union Bank, Mandaveli branch, Chennai. This is a Jailer profit sharing cheque, which is up and above the already paid remuneration ( Rs 110 crore) of the superstar movie. Total – Rs 210 crore. Making Superstar Rajinikanth the highest-paid actor in India.”
