Taylor Swift has officially announced her 12th original studio album, The Life of a Showgirl. The surprise came on Tuesday during an episode of the New Heights podcast, hosted by her boyfriend, NFL star Travis Kelce, and his brother Jason Kelce.
The reveal was anything but ordinary. In a video clip posted to Instagram, Swift, 35, asked, “Can I show you something?” Jason replied, “Okay. What do we got? We got a briefcase? Mint green, with T.S. on it.” Swift confirmed, “Yup,” while Travis made funny faces beside her.
When Jason asked, “What’s in it?” Swift replied, “This is my brand new album, The Life of a Showgirl.” Travis quickly added, “TS 12!”
The announcement was timed to perfection — exactly 12:12 a.m. ET on August 12. In her Instagram caption, Swift wrote, “Posted at 12:12 on the 12th. Tay’s 12th album is called………… pre-order now at TaylorSwift.com.”
Fans visiting her website at that time saw the countdown end, revealing a glittery orange album cover. The album is available for pre-order in vinyl, cassette, and CD formats.
While the release date, tracklist, and official cover art are yet to be revealed, pre-orders are already open. This will be Swift’s first major project since The Tortured Poets Department, announced during the 2024 Grammy Awards.
The news instantly set social media buzzing. One fan wrote, “Ladies and gentlemen… The Life of a Showgirl!!!!”
Swift has been keeping a low profile since finishing her Eras Tour in 2024, spending more time with Travis Kelce. In May, she revealed that she had bought back her music catalogue after a long dispute with music executive Scooter Braun.
Swift will appear on New Heights once again for a special episode airing at 7 p.m. ET on August 13.
