Security agencies in Maharashtra have decided to amp up Bollywood actor Shahrukh Khan’s security to Y+ amidst the recent imminent and probable threats to the actor, said sources from Mumbai Police. According to the sources, the Maharashtra State Intelligence Department (SID), in an official communication dated October 5, informed all the police commissionerates, district police and special protection units (SPUs) in the state to provide “Y+ with an escort scale of security to Khan with immediate effect”.

The decision was taken after a recent high-power committee meeting in which threats and security to the actor was reviewed. Under this new safety category Shahrukh Khan would get 11 security personnel, including six commandos, four police personnel and a traffic clearance vehicle. In addition to this, policemen will also be posted at his bunglow ‘Mannat’. The security cover will be on a payment basis and will be there until the next review meeting.

Actor’s security was increased in August

The actor’s Safety was increased in August this year following protests by people who were against celebrities endorsing online gaming apps, saying that these games misguide and corrupt the minds of innocent. Earlier this year, he also had received a threat after his song ‘Besharam Rang’ was released after which Paramhans Acharya, an Ayodhya based seer allegedly issued death threats to the actor. Back in 2010, Khan had received death threats after the release of his film ‘My name is Khan’.

Shahrukh Khan’s name also came in the news after Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Mumbai zonal head and IRS officer Sameer Wankhede allegedly revealed his WhatsApp chat conversation with Khan regarding the release of his son Aryan Khan. Aryan Khan was arrested during an NCB raid on the Cordelia cruise ship off the Mumbai coast on October 3, 2021. Aryan Khan was later cleared by a SIT and was said not to have any role in the larger drug dealing racquet.
