For a long time, there were rumours that television's popular character Shaktimaan, played by Mukesh Khanna, would make the jump to the big screen. This big project looks to be taking form, with a top-tier Bollywood actor set to play the title character.

According to peepingmoon.com, actor Ranveer Singh has been confirmed to play Shaktiman. Sony Pictures India and Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment are producing a film trilogy. According to the article, Basil Joseph, the director of Minnal Murali, would lead the project. Each portion would allegedly cost Rs 300 crore. According to Rumour Street of B-Town, Arun Anirudhan, Justin Mathew, and Durgesh Singh have been tapped to write the films.

The scripting is expected to be done by the end of 2024. The Shaktimaan trilogy is set to premiere in the second quarter of 2025, with a festival weekend release in 2026. However, there has been no formal declaration of this yet.

The superhero set aired on Indian television from September 13, 1997 until March 27, 2005. It proved to be a big hit, with 450 episodes gaining the hearts of fans. Mukesh Khanna, the film's producer, played Shaktimaan and his alter ego, Pandit Gangadhar Vidhyadhar Mayadhar Omkarnath Shastri, a newspaper photographer. He was even highlighted on the top page of The Wall Street Journal because of his beneficial impact on youngsters.

Meanwhile, Ranveer's next major project, Don 3, is set to begin filming in August or September 2024. According to a source close to the project, "Ranveer will go through workshops to play the character Don. He sees this film as a huge responsibility since he would be the third generation of Don after Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan. Farhan plans to release Don 3 in August/September 2024."
