The Raj Kapoor Film Festival, initially planned as a three-day event, has been extended due to overwhelming public demand. The festival, organized to mark the legendary actor-filmmaker's 100th birth anniversary, will now run until December 19. 

Originally set to begin on December 13 and conclude on December 15, the celebration received an enthusiastic response, prompting organizers to extend its duration. On Sunday, the Film Heritage Foundation (FHF) shared the update on X announcing the extension: 

Raj Kapoor’s iconic films returned to Indian screens as part of the RK Film Festival, commemorating the legendary actor-director’s 100th birth anniversary.

RK Films organized the event in collaboration with the Film Heritage Foundation and the National Film Archive of India (NFDC). To re-release his cult classics, offering audiences a chance to relive the magic of his cinema in PVR, Cinepolis

It spans 101 cinemas across 34 cities, making it one of the most extensive celebrations of Raj Kapoor’s work to date.

As part of the festival, audiences can watch five of Raj Kapoor’s iconic films Awara, Shree 420, Sangam, Mera Naam Joker, and Bobby in select cinemas. Other notable works screened include Aag, Barsaat, Jagte Raho, Jis Desh Mein Ganga Behti Hai, and Ram Teri Ganga Maili.

It was first announced by Raj Kapoor’s grandson, Ranbir Kapoor, at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa last month.

Numerous Bollywood stars and the Kapoor family participated in the opening ceremony, including Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor, Karisma Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan, Neetu Kapoor, and others.
