Veteran actor Paresh Rawal recently opened up about a surprising way he treated a leg injury years ago, by drinking his own urine. He shared the experience during an interview with The Lallantop.
The actor got hurt while filming the movie Ghatak, directed by Rajkumar Santoshi. After getting injured, fellow actors Tinnu Anand and Danny Denzongpa rushed him to Nanavati Hospital in Mumbai.
At the time, Paresh Rawal feared the injury might end his acting career.
Ajay Devgn’s father, Veeru Devgn, a famous action director, came to visit Paresh Rawal in the hospital. He advised him to drink his own urine early in the morning to heal faster.
“Veeru Devgan had come to visit when I was in Nanavati (hospital)... He told me to drink my own urine first thing in the morning. All fighters do this,” Rawal shared.
Veeru Devgn also advised him to avoid alcohol, tobacco, and mutton. Instead, he encouraged him to eat regular food and stick to the morning urine routine.
Determined to follow the advice properly, Paresh Rawal said he decided to make the experience feel “memorable.”
“I will sip it like a beer because if I have to follow through, I will do so properly. I did for 15 days, and when the X-ray reports came in, the doctor was surprised,” he recalled.
Normally, an injury like his would take two to two and a half months to heal. But thanks to the unusual remedy, he said he recovered in just one and a half months.
On the work front, Paresh Rawal is set to appear in Bhooth Bangla, an upcoming horror-comedy by Priyadarshan. The movie also stars Akshay Kumar and Tabu.
