This year's National Cinema Day (2024) is scheduled for Friday, September 20. Movie buffs will be able to purchase movie tickets at a reasonable fee to see films in theaters on this special day. With the cooperation of movie theaters all around the country, the Multiplex Association of India (MAI) is able to provide tickets for just ₹ 99.
More than 4,000 theaters, including PVR INOX, Cinepolis, Miraj, Citypride, Asian, Mukta A2, Movie Time, Wave, M2K, Delite, and many more, have confirmed their participation in the event, according to the MAI's accessible data. But recliners and premium formats like IMAX and 4DX are not included in this offer.
"This special occasion brings audiences of all ages together for a day of cinematic bliss, celebrating the incredible success of multiple films at the box office this year. It's a heartfelt "thank you" to all the moviegoers who contributed to this success and an open invitation to those who haven't yet returned to their local cinema," the association said on X, formerly Twitter.
Additionally, they said that there will be "exciting" deals on beverages and food. For further information, however, patrons will need to visit the participating theaters' websites and social media accounts.
Both online and offline purchases of movie tickets are possible. Those who are interested in watching can purchase tickets online via websites run by the multiplexes or through services like BookMyShow and Paytm. More information about the ticket and food and beverage specials will be available at the theaters, on their websites, and on their social media accounts.
This year, the day will showcase movies like Transformers One, Never Let Go, Yudhra, Stree 2, Tumbbad, Veer Zara, Kahan Shuru Kahan Khatam, and The Buckingham Murders. "Whether you're in the mood for action, romance or drama, this year's National Cinema Day has something for everyone to enjoy on the big screen!" MIA said.
It's vital to remember that the promotion does not apply to expensive formats like 4DX, IMAX, or even reclining seats.
The MAI was the one that initially proposed National Cinema Day in 2022. On this day, the association began to commemorate the reopening of theaters following the closures due to the coronavirus outbreak. On this day, the MIA offered steep discounts on movie tickets, enabling moviegoers to support theater owners who suffered significant losses due to the COVID-19 lockdowns.
