Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana is said to be the most expensive film ever made in India with a staggering budget of Rs. 835 Crores or $100 million. This amount is approximately the closing collection of Ranbir Kapoor's "Animal" released last year.

Ramayana will feature Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram whereas Sai Pallavi will play the role of Sita. The franchise is reportedly being made in three parts, with the first one itself costing over Rs 800 crores.
The film, which was announced last month, is said to be one of the most expensive Indian films to be ever made. According to reports, Nitesh Tiwari is spending Rs 835 crore on the first part of Ramayana. And he plans to expand this further as the franchise grows.
Reports indicate that the film will require 600 days of post-production work. This significant investment aims to enhance the visuals and overall experience of the film. The filmmakers aspire to establish 'Ramayana' as a global franchise, elevating the standards of Indian cinema on the international stage.
Ramayana is being co-produced by movie star Yash, who is also said to be playing the role of Ravana in the film
Ranbir Kapoor, who gave the block buster "Brahmastra" in 2022 is now set to not only surpass his own record but also set exceptional benchmarks for Hindi cinema with 'Ramayana.
The other films with a budget that surpassed the Rs 500 crore mark are the 'Adipurush', 'Kalki 2898 AD', and 'RRR'.
