The long-awaited fourth movie of the hit Krrish franchise is officially in production, and there's a thrilling twist — Hrithik Roshan will be directing for the first time.

Hrithik's father, Rakesh Roshan, previously directed the Krrish series of movies based on the 2003 science-fiction film hit Koi… Mil Gaya. For this latest one, though, Hrithik is set to helm Krrish 4, while his dad and Aditya Chopra are the producers of the film.

Making the big revelation on Instagram, Rakesh shared an emotional message with a photo of Hrithik. He captioned, “Duggu, 25 years back I launched you as an actor, and today again after 25 years you are being launched as a director by two filmmakers, Aditya Chopra & myself, to take forward our most ambitious film #Krrish4. Wish you all the success in this new avatar with good wishes and blessings!”

Hrithik's girlfriend, actress Saba Azad, also wasn't lagging behind in expressing her support by posting heart emojis in the comments column.

The fans of the franchise, waiting ever since Krrish 3 was released in 2013, could not hold themselves back. “HR turns director for Krrish 4. Woah, Krazzyyy news.” Another excited fan posted on X, saying, “The excitement is real. Can’t wait to see #HrithikRoshan in the director’s seat for #Krrish4. This is going to be epic!”

Some of the fans even went on to predict that the movie will break new records, with one of them saying, “Be scared… #Pushpa2TheRule record is set to break.” Several others were sure that the movie would be a blockbuster success.

Though Hrithik Roshan has been the face of the Krrish franchise all along, it is to be seen if he will remain in the lead role or if the movie will bring a new superhero. The last details about the cast and crew have not been revealed as of yet, and fans are waiting for more news with bated breath.

The Krrish franchise started in 2006 as a sequel to the narrative of Koi… Mil Gaya. The initial movie trailed Krishna (Hrithik), the child of Rohit Mehra (Hrithik) and Nisha (Preity Zinta), who had a peaceful life with his grandmother Sonia (Rekha). When Krishna ventured out into the world in pursuit of his love, Priya (Priyanka Chopra), he later took up the persona of Krrish, a masked crusader against evil.
