A Kolkata court has issued a warrant against Bollywood actress Zareen Khan in relation to a cheating case registered back in 2018. The order from a Sealdah court accused the actress of accepting ₹12.5 lahks from an event management company for inaugurating six community Kali Puja pandals in Kolkata but failed to honour the commitment.
Zareen Khan, however, expressed her lack of clarity on the matter and said that there was no truth to the allegations. “I’m sure there is no truth to this. I’m surprised too and am checking with my lawyer. Only then will I be able to give you some clarity,” India Today quoted the actor as saying. It is also being reported that the actress has not applied for bail and also did not attend the court proceeding, which forced the court to issue a warrant against her because of her continued absence.
According to the police, an event organiser lodged a formal complaint against Khan and her manager which led to the registration of an FIR against both of them. It is also being reported that Zareen Khan, during the initial questioning, claimed that she had been misled by the organisers of the pandal, who had allegedly claimed that the pandal event would be attended by the West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and several other prominent ministers.
Zareen Khan made her Bollywood debut alongside Salman Khan in ‘Veer’ and has since then appeared in various films across different languages, including ‘Housefull 2’ and ‘1921’. Her latest silver screen appearance was in Harish Vyas' ‘Hum Bhi Akele Tum Bhi Akele’, released in 2021.
