Karan Johar has always been open about his close friendship with Shah Rukh Khan, which has spanned nearly three decades. Recently, on a podcast called 'We Are Yuvaa', Karan shared his personal experiences about turning to Shah Rukh when he needed someone to discuss his struggles related to his sexuality. Their enduring friendship has been a source of strength for Karan over the years.

Karan expressed that Shah Rukh Khan was the first person in his life who didn't judge him for his feminine qualities or mannerisms. Karan felt that his parents and others around him couldn't comprehend his unique personality traits, which often led to laughter or teasing. However, Shah Rukh's upbringing in a progressive environment, rooted in theater, made him more accepting. Karan noted that Shah Rukh's cool and non-judgmental attitude was a significant source of support. Whenever Karan needed to discuss his sexuality or personality, he turned to Shah Rukh, who was always there for him.

Shah Rukh Khan's actions spoke louder than words when it came to supporting Karan. He normalized Karan's behavior, never making him feel lesser for expressing his true self. Shah Rukh would laugh and hang out with Karan when he made campy remarks or exhibited effeminate characteristics. What mattered most to Karan was not what Shah Rukh said but what he didn't say – the absence of judgment and the acceptance of Karan's unique qualities.

Their close friendship and collaboration have been enduring. Shah Rukh Khan has been a part of seven of Karan Johar's directorial ventures, with the exception of his latest film, Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani.
