Chinese Influencer Qu Qu earns ₹163 crores by tutoring women to marry into rich families

Surprisingly, the influencer generates her annual income through one-on-one consultations during her live streams.

Qu Qu, who was previously famous for her singing profile, has recently become a contentious figure in China as she tried to rebrand herself as a relationship guru, advising on how to marry into rich families. Qu Qu, the true identity of which is Le Chuan Qu, has an online woman alter ego named Ququ Big Woman, and is referred to as the ‘McKinsey of relationships.’

As mentioned at South China Morning Post, she earns a whopping 142 million yuan (approximately Rs 163 crore) per annum for merely advising women on how to marry into rich families and get rich husbands. In order to avoid any eventual bans of particular social networks, she has developed her own secret language where she refers to marriage as ‘inside the fortress,’ money is called ‘rice,’ and pregnancy is called ‘carrying a ball.’

“All relationships are essentially about benefit exchanges. Everything should be used to boost my advantage and empower me” said Qu Qu in her videos.

Generating Income through Consultations and Courses

Surprisingly, the influencer generates her annual income through one-on-one consultations during her live streams, charging 1,143 yuan (approximately Rs 13,000) per session. Her popular course, Valuable Relationships, can cost up to 3,580 yuan (approximately Rs 41,000). Additionally, for her private counseling packages, Qu Qu charges 10,000 yuan (approximately Rs 1 lakh) per month.

Her followers support her way of thinking, one of them stating “Her approach is understandable. What’s wrong with wanting both love and money? This is a realistic society. Why shouldn’t people strive for better?”

Another said “She has profoundly impacted me this year. I’ve learned fundamental concepts like goal orientation and leveraging everything to empower myself. Her insights into recognising a man’s true nature are invaluable. I highly recommend her.”

Criticism and Controversy

However with immense support also comes it’s share of criticism with one follower saying “She teaches girls to use men as cash cows and encourages competition among women. But she herself earns her living by working hard and relying on her own efforts. Isn’t that hypocritical?”

When Weibo suspended her account in December 2023, alleging that she promoted harmful relationship concepts and profited from courses with dubious values, Qu Qu encountered a major obstacle. However, she remained undeterred and began leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) to continue her business. To circumvent future bans, she now advises her customers to join her private channels.

Notable Advice and Headlines

Qu Qu’s advice on love triangle between two billionaires came to trending headlines early August 2023 when she featured in a romantic entanglement between the young lady and her boyfriend and another billionaire. The woman’s boyfriend, of course, had proposed the bride price of 4 million yuan (around 4 crores) but was a no-show on the payment front. Her admirer, who was fifteen years older to her, proposed to give her 30,000 yuan (approximately Rs 3 lakh) monthly pocket allowance along with a flat in Shanghai; worth, 20 million yuan (approximately Rs 23 crore). Qu Qu then hesitatingly told the woman not to leave her boyfriend but stick with him because he will be more faithful to her in the long-term than one’s sexual appeal.
