Actor Shah Rukh Khan tops the list of highest taxpaying celeb in India for 2024. According to a Fortune India article, the Jawan actor reportedly paid Rs 92 crore in taxes. Following Shah Rukh Khan on the list of highest taxpayer celeb are other prominent names like Salman Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Vijay, and others.
Salman Khan, who was last seen in Tiger 3, paid Rs 75 crore in taxes, while Vijay, who is about to embark on his political career, paid Rs 80 crore. Amitabh Bachchan paid Rs 71 crore in taxes on his declared joint assets of Rs 1,578 crore with his wife Jaya Bachchan.
Ajay Devgn, who apparently paid taxes totalling Rs 42 crore, is the next celebrity on the list. In addition to starring in Rohit Shetty's cop movie Singham Again, Ajay has made appearances in two more films this year: Maidan and Shaitaan. Ranbir Kapoor trailed him, having forked over Rs 36 crore in taxes. The last time we saw Ranbir was in Animal, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga. This list does not include actor Alia Bhatt, Ranbir's wife.
Tax payments from Kapil Sharma and Hrithik Roshan were Rs. 26 crore and Rs. 28 crore, respectively. Taxes totalling Rs 20 crore were paid by Kareena Kapoor, who was last seen in Crew. This list does not include her spouse Saif Ali Khan.
Akshay Kumar, who has previously been on numerous similar lists, was absent this year. In 2022, Akshay Kumar received the 'Samman Patra' from the Income Tax Department for being the country's 'highest taxpayer'. He previously told Aaj Tak, "My father taught me to pay my taxes. I don't want anyone coming to my house and asking where I've hidden the money."

Virat Kohli, who paid Rs. 66 crore in taxes, is the highest-paid star cricketer in India. MS Dhoni, who retired from international cricket in 2020 and now only plays in the IPL for the Chennai Super Kings, ranked seventh on the list after paying ₹38 crore in taxes last year. Kohli, who is presently on a break following his recent ODI series against Sri Lanka, is the top sports figure on India's list of highest-tax-paying celebrities.
Virat Kohli's estimated net worth as of 2024 is more than ₹1,000 crore. The 35-year-old cricketer's income is mostly derived from his cricket career, which includes contracts with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and participation in the IPL with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). Virat Kohli's earnings are further boosted by partnerships with prominent worldwide brands such as Puma, Audi, and MRF.
