The magical world of Harry Potter is coming back, this time to television. HBO has officially announced the young stars who will play Harry, Ron, and Hermione in the upcoming Harry Potter TV show. The series is based on J.K. Rowling’s bestselling book series that inspired eight blockbuster films.
After an intense search, HBO has chosen Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger, and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley. These young actors are stepping into the famous roles once played by Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint.
The announcement was made on Instagram with a special message: "Dear Mr. Potter, Miss Granger, and Mr. Weasley: We are pleased to inform you that you have a place at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry."
The search for the right trio was no small task. According to Variety, over 30,000 actors have auditioned since HBO opened casting calls last fall.
Showrunner Francesca Gardiner and executive producer/director Mark Mylod shared their excitement in a joint statement
"After an extraordinary search led by casting directors Lucy Bevan and Emily Brockmann, we are delighted to announce we have found our Harry, Hermione, and Ron. The talent of these three unique actors is wonderful to behold, and we cannot wait for the world to witness their magic together onscreen. We would like to thank all the tens of thousands of children who auditioned. It's been a real pleasure to discover the plethora of young talent out there."
The new series aims to stay close to the original books, giving fans a chance to explore the magical world of Hogwarts in more detail. Though no release date has been shared yet, excitement is already building around what this fresh version of the beloved story will look like.
Get ready for new spells, fresh adventures, and a whole new journey into the wizarding world.
