Stand-up comedian Pranit More was allegedly attacked by a group of men in Maharashtra’s Solapur district after his show on Sunday. The attackers were upset over his jokes about Bollywood actor Veer Pahariya. The police have registered a case against 10 to 12 people for the assault.

What happened after the show?

According to More’s team, a group of men, posing as fans, attacked him brutally, punching and kicking him. His team posted a statement on social media, saying, "...They brutally attacked him, punching and kicking him repeatedly, leaving him injured." The police called More to record his statement, but he has not yet appeared.

The police registered a case after the restaurant owner, where the show took place, filed a complaint. The venue, 24K Kraft Brewzz, stated that they were not responsible for event security and had no CCTV footage available. They clarified that their priority was to ensure the safety of everyone at the venue and that they do not support violence.

Why was he attacked?

More’s team identified one of the attackers as Tanveer Shaikh, who led the group. They claimed that Shaikh and his gang wanted to punish the comedian for making jokes about Veer Pahariya. One of the attackers allegedly warned More, saying, "Agli Baar Veer Paharaiya baba pe joke maarke dikha! (Next time, try making a joke on Veer Paharaiya."

What did Veer Pahariya say?

Actor Veer Pahariya responded to the attack on social media, saying he was shocked and saddened. He wrote, "Shocked and deeply saddened by what happened, Pranit. I want to make it absolutely clear that I had no involvement in this and strongly condemn any form of violence. I've always taken trolling in stride and would never encourage harm toward anyone, especially a fellow artist. I'm truly sorry this happened to you, and I will do whatever I can to ensure those responsible are held accountable. Sending you strength."

The police have started an investigation and are looking for the suspects involved in the attack. More’s team and fans are demanding strict action against those responsible. The venue has assured full cooperation with authorities to ensure safety at future events.
