Alia Bhatt’s former personal assistant, Vedika Prakash Shetty, has been arrested for allegedly cheating the Bollywood actor of nearly ₹77 lakh. According to the police, Shetty committed financial fraud while working with Alia’s production house, Eternal Sunshine Productions Private Limited, as well as handling her finances.

Shetty, 32, is accused of preparing fake bills and getting Alia to sign them between May 2022 and August 2024. During this time, she managed the actor’s payments and daily schedule.

The matter came to light after Alia’s mother, actor and filmmaker Soni Razdan, filed a police complaint at Juhu police station on January 23 this year. Based on her complaint, the police registered a case under charges of cheating and criminal breach of trust.

Soon after, investigators launched a search for Shetty, who had reportedly gone into hiding.

As per police sources, Vedika Shetty worked closely with Alia Bhatt from 2021 to 2024. She was trusted with financial paperwork and was responsible for organizing travel, meetings, and other work-related plans.

The investigation showed that Shetty created fake bills that looked professional and real. She then told Alia that these were for regular expenses. Once Alia signed them, the money was transferred to an account belonging to Shetty’s friend, who later returned it to Shetty.

After the FIR was lodged, Shetty kept changing her location to avoid being caught. Police traced her movement from Rajasthan to Karnataka, then to Pune, and finally to Bengaluru.

She was arrested by Juhu Police in Bengaluru and brought back to Mumbai on a transit remand.
