The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) released the final results of the Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2024 on April 22, 2025. This result concludes the year-long selection process that included the written exam in September 2024 and the personality test/interviews held from January to April 2025.
A total of 1,009 candidates have been recommended for appointment to various prestigious services such as the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Police Service (IPS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), and other Group A and B Central Services.
Shakti Dubey secures AIR 1
Topping the list is Shakti Dubey from Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, who achieved All India Rank 1 (AIR 1) in this year’s UPSC Civil Services Examination. Her incredible performance places her at the very top of one of India’s most competitive exams.
Born and brought up in Prayagraj, celebrated for its rich educational legacy and often hailed as the “Literary Capital of Uttar Pradesh”, Shakti grew up in an atmosphere that deeply nurtured learning and intellectual development.
From a young age, she developed a deep interest in academics, thanks in part to the competitive culture and rich learning environment of Prayagraj. Though the names of her schools are not known, the influence of the city’s academic spirit is evident throughout her journey.
After completing her schooling, Shakti Dubey joined the University of Allahabad to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry. Known for its academic excellence, the university provided her with a strong foundation in scientific reasoning and analytical thinking.
After completing her undergraduation in 2016, Shakti Dubey went on to pursue a Master of Science in Biochemistry at Banaras Hindu University (BHU) in Varanasi. It was here that her passion for governance and public administration began to develop, leading her to shift her career focus toward the civil services.
After completing her postgraduation studies, Shakti went into teaching, but the exact details of her assignments remain undisclosed.
In 2018, after finishing her M.Sc., Shakti made a very important decision to begin preparing for the UPSC Civil Services Examination.
She chose Political Science and International Relations as her optional subject, combining the analytical discipline of her science background with a deeper understanding of social and political structures.
Shakti’s UPSC journey spanned seven years, showcasing her dedication and commitment to a career in administration. The Civil Services Examination is conducted in three stages: Prelims, Mains, and the Personality Test. The Preliminary exam was held on June 16, 2024, followed by the Mains from September 20 to 29, 2024. The final stage, the Personality Test, took place between January 7 and April 17, 2025.
Her decision to choose Political Science and International Relations as her optional subject demonstrated her adaptability and strong understanding of governance and global affairs.
It was her calm, confident demeanor and well-articulated responses during the Personality Test that truly stood out, earning her the coveted All India Rank 1.
