The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has formally released a notification asking for applications to its Apprentice Training Programme 2025, an elite chance for young people wanting to acquire experience in the realm of space research and related disciplines. The program seeks to equip the eligible applicants with hands-on skill training in addition to granting a monthly allowance for financial aid throughout the period of training.
Application process now open
Eligible and interested applicants can submit an application for the programme through the official ISRO website – isro.gov.in. The deadline for submission was opened earlier this month and will stay open until April 21, 2025. Applicants are urged to apply well ahead of time to prevent any last-minute technical problems.
About the Apprentice Training Programme
The ISRO Apprentice Training Scheme is one component of the overall mission of the organisation to increase skill development and capacity building among India's youth. It is particularly targeted at students and recent engineering, technology, commerce, and vocational trade graduates who seek industry-level exposure. The training involves both theoretical knowledge and practical experience at ISRO centers.
Apprentice categories, vacancies, and eligibility criteria
ISRO has announced a total of 104 apprenticeship vacancies in different categories. The following are the details:
The specializations for every category are generally domains like Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Computer Science, Civil Engineering, etc., depending on the centre and project requirements.
Application start date: Ongoing
Last date to apply: April 21, 2025
Training start date: To be declared by respective ISRO centres after the selection
Age limit and other criteria
Aspiring candidates should have an age bracket of between 15 to 24 years of age as on January 1, 2025. Nonetheless, age relaxation is applicable for candidates from the reserved category as per government orders (SC/ST/OBC/PwD).
Further, candidates should have not been enrolled or be going through apprenticeship training in some other organisation nor have one-year or more working experience in that field.
Shortlisted candidates will be paid as per the norms of ISRO and the Apprenticeship Act. Even though the actual stipend may differ with respect to category and discipline, ISRO has made it clear that the stipend would be high enough to meet the essential expenses of the apprentices during the training period.
Selection process
The shortlisting of candidates will be on the basis of academic merit, i.e., the percentage of marks secured in the qualifying exam will be the deciding factor. There will not be any written test or interview in the majority of cases. Shortlisted candidates will be informed through email or the ISRO portal.
