The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Hyderabad is inviting applications for a research position in the Department of Chemistry. The position is for a project titled “Development of Selective Catalyst for Ethylene to Higher Hydrocarbons (C8+).” The project will run for 18 months.

Who can apply

To be eligible, a candidate must have a PhD degree in Chemistry along with relevant experience in research or industry. The project requires specialised skills, so candidates must be experienced in heterogeneous catalyst design and material synthesis. They should also know how to perform detailed characterisation of materials and evaluate their performance using fixed-bed reactor setups, which are commonly used in industrial chemistry applications.

Applicants must also be above 35 years of age to be considered for the role. IIT Hyderabad is looking for candidates who already have strong technical knowledge and practical experience in this field. The selected candidate will receive a monthly salary of ₹61,000, which will be paid throughout the project duration.

How to apply

Candidates who meet the eligibilitycriteria should email their CV to [email protected] with the subject line “Development of Selective Catalyst for Ethylene to Higher Hydrocarbons (C8+)”. Along with the CV, applicants must also include a short note explaining why they are suitable for the position, highlighting their relevant skills, research experience, or motivation. The last date to apply is December 15, 2025, and applications must be submitted before 5 PM.

Selection process

Candidates who fulfill all eligibility requirements will be shortlisted by the selection committee. The committee may decide on further shortlisting criteria depending on the number of applications received.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview, which may take place online. No TA/DA (travel allowance or daily allowance) will be provided by the institute, so applicants will need to attend the interview at their own cost if conducted offline.

This position offers a good opportunity for experienced researchers in Chemistry to work on an advanced catalyst development project at a leading institute.
